Getting started
There is no account and no sign-up. Open NanoPack and you can build your first list in under a minute. On the Trips tab, tap the plus and pick how you want to start:
- Plan with wizard: answer a few quick questions, where you are going, how long, who is coming and what you will be doing, and NanoPack builds a complete, tailored list.
- Describe your trip: type it in your own words, like a long weekend in Rome with the kids, and it turns that into a plan.
- Start from a template: pick a ready-made list, such as Beach holiday or Business trip, and adjust it.
- Add manually: start from a blank list and add your own items.
Building your list
Add items by tapping them from the suggestions, pulling them in from your Kit, or typing your own. Items are grouped into clear categories like Documents, Toiletries and Clothing, and you tap a row to check it off as you pack.
- Every item the app adds shows a short reason underneath, the weather, an activity or an entry rule, so nothing appears without a why.
- Quantities scale to your trip: a longer trip asks for more, with a laundry option so you are not packing thirty shirts.
- Swipe an item and tap Save to Kit to reuse it on every future trip.
- Keep a Shopping list of things you still need to buy, and tick them off once you have them.
Your Kit and templates
The Kit is the heart of NanoPack: your personal library of things you always bring. Build it once and every new trip starts from it, so you are never packing from a blank page. The more you use the app, the more it learns what you reach for.
- Save to Kit: as you pack, save the items you always bring, and they are one tap away next time.
- Duplicate a trip: swipe a past trip and tap Duplicate to reuse the whole list, reset to unpacked.
- Eleven built-in templates to start from: Weekend trip, Beach holiday, City break, Business trip, Ski trip, Camping, Road trip, Hiking, Backpacking, Festival and Winter city break.
Set up the widget
Keep your trip and packing progress one glance away on your Home Screen or Lock Screen, and check items off without opening the app.
On your Home Screen
Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen until the icons jiggle.
Tap the plus button in the top corner.
Search for NanoPack and pick a size, small, medium or large.
Tap Add Widget, then Done. Tick items right from the widget, or tap it to jump to your list.
On your Lock Screen
Touch and hold your Lock Screen, then tap Customize.
Tap the area below the time.
Choose NanoPack to see your packing progress at a glance.
On Apple Watch, add NanoPack as a complication from the watch face editor to see your progress and tick items off from your wrist.
Live Activity and Dynamic Island
Once a trip is in packing mode, NanoPack shows a Live Activity on your iPhone Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island: your packing progress and a countdown to departure, so you can see how much is left and how long you have without opening the app. Tap it to jump straight to your list.
Pro and iCloud sync
NanoPack is free and complete, and it stays that way. Pro is a one-time purchase, never a subscription, that adds a few extras on top.

Sync uses your own private iCloud, not a server of ours, so your data never touches a NanoPack server. Sign in with the same Apple ID on each device and your trips and Kit stay in step. Live collaboration on a shared trip is coming in v1.1. To restore a previous Pro purchase, open the Pro screen and tap Restore purchase, signed in with the same Apple ID you bought it with.
Packing reminders
In Settings, turn on the packing reminder and choose how many days before departure you want it, from one to fourteen. NanoPack sends a gentle notification with what you still have left to pack. Reminders need notification permission, so if you do not see them, turn on notifications for NanoPack in the iOS Settings app.
Languages and devices
NanoPack is one universal app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, with an Apple Watch app, widgets and a Live Activity. It is fully translated into English, Dutch, French, Spanish and German, and you can set the app's language in Settings independently of your phone. You can also switch between light and dark appearance and choose an accent theme.
Troubleshooting
Check that both devices are signed in to the same Apple ID and have iCloud sync on, then give it 30 to 60 seconds and reopen the app, since sync is not instant. If you just changed the iCloud sync setting, restart NanoPack to apply it.
Open NanoPack once to let it refresh, and check the widget is pointed at your current trip. Widgets also refresh periodically on their own, so a moment later it will catch up.
Open the Pro screen and tap Restore purchase, signed in with the same Apple ID you used to buy it. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID, not to any NanoPack account.
Reminders need notification permission. Turn on notifications for NanoPack in the iOS Settings app, then check the reminder is switched on in NanoPack's own Settings.
